Plane Makes Pit Stop Atop Pickup Truck
A small plane made an emergency landing on top of a moving pickup, but no one was seriously injured in the incident outside of Daytona Beach, police said.
Glenn M. Meleen, 23, realized his single-engine plane was in trouble just after he took off Saturday. Meleen tried to land on a two-lane road, Edgewater police Sgt. William Lenz said. Instead, the plane came down on the cab of Robert Oglesby’s pickup.
The truck’s roof caved in and shattered glass sprayed inside the vehicle, but Oglesby, 61, escaped from the flattened truck with minor cuts. Meleen was not injured.
