Man Jailed in Fatal O.C. Stabbing
A drunken fight at a Garden Grove party led to a fatal stabbing early Sunday morning, police said.
A large group had gathered in an apartment in the 13400 block of El Prado Avenue on Saturday night when one of the guests, Luong Nguyen, 28, began arguing with several people, police Sgt. Scott Watson said.
Nguyen, of Westminster, attacked the group and hit one person with a beer bottle. After the fight, partygoers left and Nguyen went home, Watson said. But just after 1 a.m., Bang Thanh Bui and his family -- the hosts of the party -- were awakened by Nguyen kicking and pounding on the door and shouting for Bui, Watson said.
Bui opened the front door, and Nguyen stabbed him once in torso, police said. The two struggled until Bui passed out. He was declared dead at the scene.
Nguyen fled, but officers spotted his car and arrested him. He is being held on suspicion of murder.
“This was not gang-related,” Watson said. “It’s simply some friends that were drinking and got into an argument and it escalated to this.”
