Fresno Man Faces Nine Counts of Murder
The Fresno man suspected of killing seven of his children and two grandchildren was charged Sunday with nine counts of murder, police said. His bail was set at $9 million, said Lt. Dennis Montejano.
Marcus Wesson, 57, was arrested Friday after a two-hour standoff at his home that ended with his capture and the discovery of nine bodies, including those of three 1-year-olds.
Neighbors heard gunshots before Wesson -- splattered with blood -- emerged from his home and surrendered to a SWAT team. Police have yet to describe when, where and how the victims were killed. The victims were six females, ages 1 to 24, and three boys under 7 years old.
Police believe that the two dead grandchildren also were fathered by Wesson in an incestuous relationship with one of his deceased daughters.
