Fools Affair Looks to Recapture Form
A loser for the first time in his Los Alamitos debut Feb. 6, Fools Affair will try to start a new winning streak in tonight’s eighth, a $15,015 allowance at 350 yards.
Trained by Blane Schvaneveldt for owner-breeder Les Sweeting, Fools Affair, a gelded son of Proudest Effort, was perfect in five starts in 2003 racing in Utah and Wyoming before he finished fourth in a trial for the Los Alamitos Winter Derby.
Fools Affair, who will break from Post 2 in the field of five, will again be ridden by Sam Thompson in a lineup that also includes Getgone Likemom, second at 10-1 in her California debut for trainer Chris O’Dell on Feb. 6, Ep Special, Corona Fria and Wired To Fly.
Trained by Jaime Gomez for Ismael Romero, Corona Fria lost by a nose to Frequent Strawflyer on Feb. 7 despite a slow start.
