Look at Each Student

Re “School Rankings Rankle Some,” March 10: School rankings do indeed rankle this teacher. I teach at one of those bottom-decile schools. What good does it do to compare us with a school with well-educated parents, a stable student population, safe streets and clean play areas? Even comparing our own school population from year to year is flawed because of transience. All we should be looking at is individual student progress. Other statistics are irrelevant.
