Emergency crews used a tow truck Thursday to rescue a horse that had become trapped after falling through the lid of a septic tank, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The incident occurred in a stable area in the 11000 block of Winnetka Avenue at 6:20 p.m. Only the horse’s head and neck were above ground, said Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis.
Department of Animal Services officers and firefighters sedated the animal, fitted it with a harness and pulled it from the tank about an hour after it fell.
“The horse is fine,” Collis said.
