A Costa Mesa man was arrested Friday on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence, police said, after the car he was driving hit two pedestrians, killing one and injuring the other.
Pawel Wiater, 22, was booked into Costa Mesa City Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail shortly after the 12:10 a.m. incident in the 300 block of 17th Street.
Andre Braga, 31, of Laguna Beach died at the scene. Another man is in critical condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Wiater was not injured, police said, but a passenger in his car suffered minor injuries.
