A foundation created by Danish-born pianist-comedian Victor Borge has donated $250,000 to the construction of a Jewish Museum in Copenhagen.
Scheduled to open June 8, the museum will tell the history of Danish Jews through books, manuscripts, religious and everyday objects, museum director Janne Laursen said. The Danish Ministry of Culture has contributed $1.5 million to the project.
The museum design comes from U.S. architect Daniel Libeskind, who designed the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the master plan for the memorial World Trade Center site in New York.
