Envoy Warns of Possible Intervention in N. Korea
Russia’s envoy to last week’s inconclusive six-party talks aimed at halting North Korea’s nuclear program said military intervention could become a possibility if no movement toward an agreement appears.
“If this goes on, mistrust will grow on the Korean peninsula. The situation could be aggravated and military intervention is possible,†Alexander Losyukov told Russia’s Itar-Tass news service on his return to Moscow.
Losyukov said Washington was maintaining a tough stance. “The North Korean problem is unlikely to be solved before the U.S. election,†he said.
