27 Immigrants Found in Motel Rooms
Police responding to a complaint that a man had been beaten and kidnapped said they found 27 suspected illegal immigrants at a motel in South Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
Officers said they found the men, women and children crowded into a few rooms at the motel at 92nd and Figueroa streets. Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents were called to the scene to deal with the suspected undocumented immigrants.
Police said they went to the motel after a man, whom they did not immediately identify, reported that he had escaped from the motel after several men beat him and took him to the motel against his will. Police said the purported attackers fled before officers arrived, and no arrests were made.
