Cars, chili for charity
Cars and chili have long been employed by charitable organizations to lure the masses to fundraising endeavors. The Knights of Columbus, Simi Valley Council, will celebrate a 17-year-long marriage of both attractions with its Chili Cook-off & Car Show. The chili competition is sanctioned by the International Chili Society, and the winner will advance to the Western Regional cook-off in Del Mar in August. The 15 categories of cars will include hot rods, classics and customs. The event also offers live music, folkloric dancing, crafts booths, a rock climbing wall and children’s attractions.
Knights of Columbus Chili Cook-off & Car Show, St. Rose of Lima Elementary School, 1305 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. $4; children 6 to 12, $2; 5 and younger, free. (805) 526-7960.
