Teenage Girl’s Killer Gets Life Prison Term
- Share via
A Highland man who admitted to killing a teenage girl and then dumping her body down a well in San Bernardino’s Little Sand Canyon was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without possibility of parole.
Jonathon Lee Stephens, 20, and two other teenage boys helped lure their friend Christy McKendall, 17, to the remote area in April 2002. Once there, Stephens bashed McKendall’s head in with a log and then had sex with her lifeless body before dumping it down the well. An alleged accomplice, Joshua Curnutte, has pleaded not guilty and is due back in San Bernardino County Superior Court in August.
