Dodgers Pondering a Mascot
A mascot for the Dodgers?
That’s one of the changes Lon Rosen, new Dodger executive vice president of marketing, is strongly considering to “try to insert a little bit more energy†into things at Chavez Ravine.
“I think two-thirds of the Major League Baseball teams have mascots,†Rosen said Monday. “The Angels have a mascot, the Yankees don’t have a mascot, Philadelphia has a famous mascot, but I don’t know if it will work. We’re going to take a look at it and talk to people about it.â€
The Dodgers have not had a mascot in Los Angeles, team officials said. As part of the Dodgers’ research for the mascot project, Gary Miereanu, vice president of communications, said he had the mascot of at least one team photographed on the recent trip to Philadelphia, Atlanta and Milwaukee.
“Obviously, we’re going to have people who aren’t happy with some things, and we’re going to be very sensitive to that,†Rosen said. “We’re going to look at everything and evaluate it.... This is a work in progress.â€
