A 3-year-old girl survived on little more than crackers -- for five days -- while huddled near her dead mother inside a wrecked car amid freezing temperatures in eastern Arizona, authorities said.
In what law enforcement officials called a miracle, Angel Emery was reported to be in good condition at a hospital in Phoenix after she was found by a motorist who spotted the car off the roadway near Globe.
Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Frank Valenzuela said the girl survived freezing nighttime temperatures inside a vehicle that had several broken windows.
Patricia Emery-Wade, 44, was found dead inside the sedan in the single-vehicle accident that occurred Jan. 21, he said.
