British Soldier Dies in Explosion Near Base

An explosion near the British base in Kabul, the capital, killed a British soldier, the deputy commander of the peacekeeping force said. Also, police said a suicide attack near the German base east of the capital injured five foreigners.
Few details were immediately available.
The nearly simultaneous attacks came during a memorial ceremony at the Canadian base for a Canadian soldier killed in a suicide attack in Kabul the day before.
