Olivier Guichard, 83; De Gaulle Aide Served 3 Presidents of France

Olivier Guichard, 83, one of Gen. Charles de Gaulle’s close political lieutenants and a six-time government minister, died Tuesday in Paris following a long illness.
The former political ally to De Gaulle in the 1940s and ‘50s retired from politics in 1998. He served as a minister under three presidents: De Gaulle, Georges Pompidou and Valery Giscard d’Estaing.
