Author’s Suit Against Disney Is Reinstated
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A state appellate court panel reinstated a lawsuit alleging that the Walt Disney Co. cheated the author of the novel that inspired the movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” out of royalties, documents showed.
On Wednesday, the 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled that Disney must face the claim brought by Gary Wolf, who created Roger Rabbit and other Toontown characters in his 1981 “Who Censored Roger Rabbit?”
Wolf claims Disney owes him a 5% royalty from licensing agreements with McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and other companies.
