Re “ ‘Colorblind’ Approach Urged for King/Drew,” Jan. 14: Bravo to L.A. County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke for taking the heat and speaking the truth about how to repair the Martin Luther King Jr./Charles R. Drew Medical Center. As an African American, I believe that Dr. King would be happy that a diverse and qualified staff is running his namesake facility. He gave his life for dreaming that America will one day see past color. And Burke is absolutely right in her endeavor to elevate to “excellent” the quality of care and medical services provided to the people in that community who are served by King/Drew.
