Snow We Used to Know

Re “Putting Snowmobiles on Ice,” editorial, Dec. 25: Kudos to the federal district judge who restored a Clinton administration ban on snowmobiles in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.
During the winter of 2002 my sister and I and two friends flew to Bozeman, Mont., to visit Yellowstone in the wintertime. The trip was all that we expected; i.e., the park was stunningly beautiful when covered with snow -- but how much better an experience it would have been without the nearly choking exhaust fumes we had no choice but to breathe from the hundreds of snowmobiles roaring through the park. In our opinion, the ban can’t come soon enough.
