Can one sail green on the ocean blue?
I might like to take a cruise on the elegant Queen Mary 2 [“A Royal Entrance,†Feb. 22] but not without knowing the procedures it follows to dispose of toxic waste from the photo lab and human sewage and trash generated by such a huge ocean-going population. I would want to know when the ship is inspected for compliance with regulations. Cruise ships have been notorious for dumping on the high seas.
I could not have this cruise experience without being assured that my enjoyment did not result in the further pollution of fish and sea populations. I noticed your article didn’t mention anything about this kind of stewardship relating to ocean travel.
