Re “Balancing Lives Against Lucre,†Commentary, Feb. 25: “Polls repeatedly show that Americans want the government to do more to protect health and the environment; nothing in law or economics proves they are wrong†-- other than the simple fact that Americans are unwilling to vote for anyone or anything that promises to actually do this. It costs money, after all.
