Man Arrested in Beating, Rape
The Oxnard police SWAT unit arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the beating and rape of a woman in a boat storage yard over the weekend, authorities said Sunday.
Allen Dale Ramer was arrested about 4:45 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of South Oxnard Boulevard, following the early-morning attack, police said. He was being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Ramer is suspected of breaking into the woman’s boat, located in a dry-dock storage yard, about 2 a.m. and severely beating and sexually assaulting her, police said. The attack lasted more than an hour, leaving the victim with severe but not life-threatening wounds.
During the assault, the attacker made comments about committing suicide, police said. Using information supplied by the Ventura Police Department, Oxnard detectives tracked the suspect to the Oxnard Boulevard address, police said. The suspect, believed to be from out of state, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup with a Nevada license plate.
