Amnesty International said it had received reports Sudanese government-backed militias attacked five villages in the southern part of the Darfur region Feb. 11, killing at least 68 civilians.
Additionally, government aircraft bombed 11 towns and villages Feb. 10-12 in western Darfur, and pro-government militia fighters killed people fleeing their homes, including an Islamic preacher, Amnesty International said in a statement. Government soldiers also allegedly abducted 30 girls last week, the group said. It was not possible to get immediate comment from Sudanese officials.
