DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Steady rain postponed the Hershey’s Kisses 300, the opening event of the NASCAR Busch series, after 31 laps of the 120-lap race had been run Saturday at Daytona International Speedway.
NASCAR officials announced that the race would resume at 8 a.m. PST Monday and would be televised live on TNT.
Two-time defending champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. was leading the wreck-marred race when it was stopped. Trailing the No. 8 Chevrolet were Robby Gordon, Mike Wallace, Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday.
Eighteen of the 31 laps were run under the caution flag because of a seven-car accident on Lap 13. No one was injured, but Johnny Benson, Mike Bliss, Wally Dallenbach Jr., Kasey Kahne and Paul Menard were knocked out of the race.
