Oxnard College Raises Security
Prompted by a rape on campus last week, Oxnard College officials and police said they have stepped up security on and around the school grounds.
A 52-year-old student was raped about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3 as she walked to her car at the north end of the campus, near College Park, police said. The assailant pulled the woman into a van parked next to her car and assaulted her.
Since then, authorities said, they have received a report from another student who said she had been accosted in a campus bathroom in October.
In response, college security officers and Oxnard police have increased patrols, posted warning fliers and closed the dirt parking lot at the north end of the campus where the rape occurred.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call Oxnard College police at 986-5805.
