I spent a weekend at Tioga Pass Resort in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. No lift lines, and ski or board your brains out all day. You need to be able to walk, ski or snowshoe uphill three to six miles, depending on conditions, to get to the resort. That keeps people away, but it also makes it winter heaven.
