Just What We Need: Local Hooligans

Southern California has many good rivalries: USC-UCLA, Dodgers-Angels, Lakers-Clippers. Most fans have no rational reason why they support these teams. “I just like them” is given most often. These rivalries are quite harmless.
I am afraid that the newest rivalry will be quite different. Galaxy vs. Chivas will be along ethnic and cultural lines. Will this rivalry be harmless or further divide our community?
