Hybrid advocates

Re “Political Insider’s New Script” (by Patrick Goldstein, Aug. 24): Mike Murphy called “Hollywood liberals” hypocrites because they drive a Prius but own a Gulfstream. Murphy and other Republicans miss the point entirely. The Prius is an alternative to the traditional gas-powered automobile. When someone develops the technology for a hybrid private plane, I am sure the “Hollywood liberals” will purchase one. But you cannot judge someone to be a hypocrite when there is no alternative plane in existence.
