L.A. Lawyer Donates $43 Million to University
Stanford University announced a $43.5-million donation that will be used to build campus housing for law, business and other graduate students.
The donation is from Charles T. Munger, a Los Angeles-based lawyer and longtime partner of billionaire investor Warren Buffett, and his wife, Nancy B. Munger, a Stanford graduate and former member of its board of trustees. Charles T. Munger, who is also vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. holding company and a founder of the Munger, Tolles & Olson law firm, earned his law degree at Harvard.
Stanford officials said they believe the donation is the largest gift ever given to a U.S. law school. It also is the largest gift Stanford has received for housing.
