Hundreds of janitors at Target Corp. stores in six states didn’t get overtime payments owed them by a contractor, the U.S. Department of Labor said.
Global Building Services Inc. agreed to pay the disputed wages to 775 janitors, more than 600 of them in California, the Labor Department said.
The company, based in Newhall, agreed to pay $1.9 million in missed overtime wages for work performed over about two years ended in February 2003.
Target was not part of the investigation, a Labor Department spokeswoman said.
