Iranians warmly welcome Queen
Western music is censored in Iran, but some performers have had selected works officially released there, including Elton John, Julio Iglesias and the Gipsy Kings. Now the rock group Queen has joined that list, with a greatest hits album hitting stores this week, the BBC reports.
The album, available on cassette for less than $1 and featuring such songs as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Miracle” and “I Want to Break Free,” is selling well, according to one salesman quoted by the BBC.
“It is the first rock album to hit the market legally, and people are surprised and pleased to see it has the lyrics,” Akbar Safari said.
