Williams’ File Is Sent to NCAA
USC sent Mike Williams’ summer school grades and other information to the NCAA on Tuesday with hopes that a decision on the All-American receiver’s eligibility is made within a few days.
“It is sitting at the NCAA office and we are awaiting a final ruling,” said Todd Dickey, USC’s vice president and general counsel.
USC, which begins its season Saturday against Virginia Tech, has applied to the NCAA for a progress-toward-degree waiver and reinstatement of Williams’ eligibility. Williams left school in February, announced he was turning pro and hired an agent.
Williams has not practiced with the team since Aug. 10.

Suspended running back Hershel Dennis will not play against Virginia Tech, Coach Pete Carroll said.

It is not clear what Dennis’ role was in the alleged Aug. 16 incident. Dennis’ attorney, Carmen Trutanich, confirmed that he had been contacted by police, but refused to comment further.
