Old Pros Meet at Del Mar

Despite their credentials, the three multiple stakes winners all can be had for $40,000 today when they run in today’s sixth, a $54,000 optional claimer for California breds at 6 1/2 furlongs, at Del Mar.
Disturbingthepeace is dropping in class after finishing ninth in his bid to win the Bing Crosby Handicap for a second time on July 25. The 6-year-old Bold Badgett gelding worked in 1:12 4/5 for trainer Darrell Vienna earlier this month.
Men’s Exclusive, who is 0 for 3 at Del Mar, will be making his first start since Nov. 8 for trainer Wesley Ward and will be looking for his first victory since March 19, 2003. The 11-year-old will break from the rail and will be ridden by Tyler Baze.
Full Moon Madness is making his first start on the dirt since he was fifth in the Cal Cup Sprint Handicap on Nov. 8. The 9-year-old will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux.
Race of the day: Midas Eyes, the stakes quality sprinter trained by Bobby Frankel, will make his first appearance since finishing fourth in the Strub Stakes on Feb. 7 in today’s seventh at Saratoga. The 4-year-old Touch Gold colt will be ridden by Edgar Prado in the $51,000 allowance at 6 1/2 furlongs.
One for the road: Buff Naked has improved with every start on turf for trainer Phil Serpe and should handle the stretch to 1 3/16 miles in today’s sixth at Saratoga. Prado will ride the 3-year-old Pine Bluff gelding in the $44,000 allowance for New York breds.
Exotically speaking: Late daily doubles using We All Love Aleyna in the seventh to Time To Sing, C R Power and Yak The Desert Rat in the eighth.
