Divers Recover Body of Pilot in Plane Crash
Divers recovered the body of a pilot killed Saturday when his seaplane crashed into Lake Oroville, authorities said Sunday.
The body of Weldon Hord, 50, of Brenham, Texas, was retrieved Sunday afternoon near the crash site at the bottom of Thermalito Afterbay, Butte County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
The body of a second man killed in the crash -- Gary Wilson, 52, of Live Oak, Calif. -- was recovered from the plane Saturday, officials said.
Hord, an experienced pilot who recently purchased the plane, had been staying at a summer home in Lake Tahoe. On Saturday morning, he picked up Wilson, his longtime friend, for a day of flying, officials said. The plane plunged into Thermalito Afterbay about 11:30 a.m.
