Army Sent to Herat to Retake Air Base

Afghan army troops flew from Kabul to the western province of Herat on U.S. and NATO planes and retook an air base that was being fought over by the forces of Gov. Ismail Khan and several rival warlords.
The soldiers seized the base at Shindand, 370 miles west of Kabul, the capital, but battles continued outside the town.
