Student Bicycling Home Struck, Killed by Big Rig

A 16-year-old girl bicycling home from school was struck and killed by a big rig Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. at Painter Avenue and Mulberry Drive, the CHP said. The driver had been making a right turn and told officers he hadn’t realized what had happened until bystanders waved him down.
