Borderline Stupidity
Steve Lopez’s “Patch Job Leaves Holes at the Border” (Aug. 8) is a cuttingly correct comment on illegal immigration. It is frightening and scary, whether taken literally or metaphorically.
The federal government’s uncoordinated acts, its “running off in all directions at the same time” and its inept internal and external coordination compounds, exaggerates and inflames an already extremely difficult human, fiscal, moral and political problem.
Lopez’s solution is not the same as mine, but his diagnostic article points to the stupidity, ineffectiveness and hypocrisy in the federal government. Hopefully his diagnostic efforts will lead to rational cures for this exceedingly important and complex problem.
