A woman who had been living in Mexico for 22 years has been extradited to France, where she faces a life sentence in a 1980 bank robbery case, the Mexican attorney general’s office said.
It reported that Helene Heriette Castell, who had been using the name Florencia Rivera, was wanted on robbery and kidnapping charges. She is accused of being involved in a May 30, 1980, bank robbery in which six people were taken hostage. Officials blamed the robbery on the radical Marxist group Direct Action.
