Shevchenko Is Difference for AC Milan
Andriy Shevchenko scored the go-ahead goal on a free kick in the 87th minute, and Italian League champion AC Milan rallied to beat Chelsea of the English Premier League, 3-2, in an exhibition game Monday night at Philadelphia.
Eidur Gudjohnsen put Chelsea ahead in the 19th minute when he redirected a free kick, but Cafu tied the score in the 26th minute when he beat goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini from outside the penalty area off a pass from Kaka.

Chelsea soccer player -- The Soccer Report roundup in Tuesday’s Sports section misidentified Didier Drogba, who scored Chelsea’s second goal in an exhibition match against AC Milan on Monday in Philadelphia, as Arjen Drogba.
Arjen Drogba put Chelsea ahead off a corner kick in the 38th minute, but Alessandro Costacurta tied the score, 2-2, in the 76th minute when he redirected Kaka’s corner kick.
AC Milan finished 2-0 on its North American tour. Chelsea was 2-1.

Sebastian Deisler scored two goals and set up another to lead Bayern Munich to a 3-2 victory over Bundesliga Champion Werder Bremen, 3-2, in the German League Cup final at Mainz, before hobbling off the field because of a knee injury.
The feisty midfielder, who has had five knee operations, was back for the victory ceremony and did not appear to be injured seriously.

Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will face his bosses in the England Football Assn. today to answer questions over a sex scandal that has stunned English soccer.
England’s Swedish-born coach flew to London on Monday amid calls that he should follow association chief executive Mark Palios and resign. Palios resigned Sunday.
English soccer’s governing body has admitted both men had an affair with an association secretary.
Although that alone may not be grounds for firing Eriksson, the coach will be questioned by the association’s board of directors about how the organization came to issue an initial statement denying it.

Independiente Coach Jose Omar Pastoriza, who as a player led the Buenos Aires club to three league titles and one Copa Libertadores championship, died. He was 61.
Relatives said Patoriza, who built a successful coaching career at Independiente and with national soccer teams around the region, died after suffering a heart attack.

The Italian Supercup between AC Milan and Lazio will be played at Milan on Aug. 21 and not at Tripoli, Libya, as previously planned, the Italian Soccer League said without elaborating.
