Girl in Spa Accident Recovering at Hospital

A 10-year-old who nearly drowned after her hair became tangled in the filter of a backyard spa was recovering Monday at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, officials said.
Katie Glavinic was in stable condition and is expected to recover, police said.
She was in the spa about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at her family’s home in the 3600 block of Seascape Drive in Huntington Beach, police said. While police landed a helicopter on the cul-de-sac, Phil Burtis, a family friend, was able to pull the unconscious girl out of the water and give her CPR, officials said.
