City Has Worst Tourism Season Since 2000

Santa Cruz, which depends on tourists for a large chunk of its income, had its worst tourist season in four years this summer, officials said.
Visitors came later in the year, spent less and went home instead of staying the night in a local hotel.
Local businesses that cater to tourists generally fared the same or worse this summer than in any year since 2000.
