Anti-Development Group Submits Petition

A group hoping to stem development of San Diego County’s rural lands has gathered 106,000 signatures on petitions to put the issue on the March ballot.
The Clean Water and Forest Rural Lands Initiative would supersede a county plan to manage growth in unincorporated areas over the next 20 years. It would set a population cap of 678,000 in unincorporated areas, compared with 772,155 proposed by the county, and set minimum acreage for lots.
Save Our Forests and Ranchlands turned in its signatures to the county Monday. At least 66,000 signatures must be ruled valid.
