Police are investigating a threatening letter sent to the city’s Planning Commission stating that commission members “will all be made to pay the final price.â€

Armed police stood guard at Tuesday night’s commission meeting to allay fears of City Council members and commissioners.

Authorities are determining whether the letter, which was received Oct. 21, violates any state law, said Police Chief Dennis Cassidy. He did not say whether there were any suspects.

The mailer of the letter used a fake return address, said City Manager Jim App. He said police are testing for fingerprints.
