European Commission Widens Microsoft Probe

The European Commission widened its investigation of Microsoft Corp. over anti-competitive practices, asking computer hardware makers for details of their licensing deals with the software giant.
The commission has contacted major computer makers, such as IBM Corp., to seek details on how Microsoft licensed the operating systems they sold with personal computers.
Microsoft said it had not been contacted by the commission about the inquiry.
