Suspect in 2001 O.C. Death Held
A man suspected of beating a 16-year-old Costa Mesa girl to death two years ago has been arrested in Mexico on unrelated charges.
Victor Garcia, 19, was wanted in the killing of Ceceline Godsoe, whose body was found in Costa Mesa’s Fairview Park in 2001.
He was arrested in Mexico City last week on domestic violence charges stemming from an incident in Mexico, said Sgt. Jack Archer, a spokesman for the Costa Mesa Police Department.
A check of records revealed an outstanding warrant for Garcia’s arrest in the Costa Mesa case.
Garcia is being held in Mexico City on a U.S. federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution while extradition proceedings begin.
