Alaska Air Net Income More Than Triples

Alaska Air Group Inc., parent of Alaska Airlines, more than tripled third-quarter profit as the carrier increased service and carried more passengers who paid higher average fares.
Net income was $40.7 million, or $1.52 a share, compared with $12.5 million, or 47 cents, a year earlier, the Seattle-based company said. Revenue rose 13% to $702.2 million.
Shares of Alaska Air Group were unchanged at $30.90 on the NYSE.
