Calif. Gasoline Prices Decline for 8th Week
Gasoline prices in California dipped for the eighth straight week, falling 3.6 cents to $1.769 Monday for a gallon of self-serve regular, according to a weekly federal survey.
The statewide average cost of fuel has fallen 33.2 cents a gallon since the beginning of September, but the reduction still falls short of reversing an abrupt price increase in mid-August, when pump prices jumped 35.8 cents a gallon in two weeks, according to figures compiled by the Energy Information Administration, an arm of the Energy Department.
Across the country as a whole, gasoline prices ticked higher, with the national average rising 0.3 cent to $1.571 for a gallon of regular.
