Frustrated Ariza to Have Scan
Freshman forward Trevor Ariza will undergo a CT scan early this week on his collapsed lung, and his projected return in about two weeks still holds.
Ariza, a starter and the team’s leading rebounder in two exhibitions, did not play Saturday, although he sat on the bench.
“I’m short of breath, that’s all,†he said. “It’s frustrating. Gradually I’ll get back into it.â€

Point guard Cedric Bozeman played 37 minutes despite a tender ankle. He got through the first 36 without re-injuring it.
With 48 seconds to play, however, he rolled the ankle while making a pass to guard Brian Morrison that resulted in a key three-point basket. He had to be helped off the floor.
Bozeman stayed in the game and, after icing the ankle afterward, said he would be ready to play Wednesday against UC Riverside.
“It does hurt, but I’ll be all right,†he said, limping slightly as he walked toward the parking lot.

Coach Ben Howland did not criticize his players at halftime despite the fact that UCLA trailed by 11 points. However, he did blister the team after the game -- despite the fact the Bruins came back to win.
“When you are down like we were, you don’t want to project that we are panicking,†he said. “I got more upset at the end of the game when I could finally tell them how I really felt.â€
