Markus Naslund scored with 46.2 seconds left in overtime to lead the Vancouver Canucks past the Ottawa Senators, 3-2, Thursday night at Ottawa.
Naslund got the winner -- his 11th goal of the season -- when the puck went in off his leg during a scramble following defenseman Sami Salo’s shot from the point.
“I was just driving to the net,” Naslund said. “It was a lucky bounce. I didn’t even see the puck coming.”
Dan Cloutier made 31 saves, including a pad stop to rob Zdeno Chara 1:50 into overtime, for his 100th NHL victory. Ottawa defenseman Chris Phillips hit the crossbar with less than a minute left in regulation.
Toronto 3, Atlanta 1 -- Ed Belfour made 31 saves at Atlanta, allowing only Ilya Kovalchuk’s NHL-leading 17th goal. Kovalchuk scored with 1:26 left to bring the Thrashers within 2-1, but Owen Nolan scored his second goal of the game 27 seconds later to seal Toronto’s third straight win.
Colorado 6, Calgary 5 -- Derek Morris scored at 2:24 of overtime at Calgary, helping the Avalanche end a two-game losing streak. Colorado blew leads of 4-3 and 5-4. Andrew Ference scored at 11:53 of the third period to force the overtime.
