Driving in L.A.

L.A. CENTRIC columnist Mary McNamara seems to live in a version of L.A. created by local publicists (“We Hit the Brakes More Than the Horn,” Nov. 18). Whereas honking in New York City, for example, is a mass release of pent-up frustration that motorists can enjoy while trapped on impossibly crowded streets, L.A. drivers use their horns to scold like first-grade teachers or to demand their personal right-of-way despite what traffic dictates.
She forgets that “road rage” was invented on our freeways.
